The Fly Fishing Show

image4 This past winter we have been traveling around the country attending some fly fishing shows to promote Falcon’s Ledge and to get avid anglers to visit our trout filled state of Utah. The two fly fishing show we attended this year were Somerset, New Jersey and Lancaster, Pennsylvania. [caption id="attachment_3910" align="alignright" width="300"]image3 Lefty Kreh[/caption] The Somerset show is the largest of all the fly fishing shows. It attracts many well known fly fisherman such as, Lefty Kreh, Gary Borger, Joe Brooks, John Gierach, George Daniel, Jeff Currier and many many more. These shows are a great way to learn more about the sport. There are several workshops throughout each of the days. You can learn about anything from small stream fishing out west to Tarpon fishing in the Keys. There’s also several beginning to advanced casting demonstrations throughout the days. This show was a little smaller and more intimate but the people in this area really know their fishing. We learned that there are several excellent small trout streams in the sate and hold good numbers of fish. Again, there were several workshops and presentations on where to fish all over the country. We also learned that people love traveling out west to fish and learn new ways to catch fish. If you ever get the chance to attend one of these shows we highly recommend that you do. Make sure you plan on attending for at least two days. It’s hard to experience it all in one day. It’s a good excuse to get out and cast some of the newer rods and look at some of the new products that will be hitting the shelves of your local fly shop.   Thank you to all who stopped by our booth at either or both shows this year. We hope to see you out in our neck of the woods this upcoming fishing season.    ]]>
