Falcon's Ledge

Group Fly Fishing Lodge

June and July are amazing months at Falcon’s Ledge Lodge. The river and lake fishing are both amazing and the warm weather is great for relaxing by the pool and hot tub and kayaking on the lakes. These two months bring out the big fish eating dry flies and in the evening when you are tired from fighting big fish you can relax in the hot tub or kayak around one of the private lakes as the sun sets behind the mountains. Fly fishing groups from all over the country love to come and fish with us from June to August.

June is the start of the big hatches around Falcon’s Ledge Lodge. The damsel flies start to get active on the private lakes and begin to hatch. Big trout in the lakes love to feast on both the damselfly nymphs and the adults. Pulling an olive woolly bugger or throwing a damselfly dry fly can be very productive for big fish on the private lakes in June. The second half of June brings big green drake hatches on many of the rivers around Falcon’s Ledge. This is a great hatch and brings out big brown trout to munch on the green drakes flying around the rivers. Parachute green drake patterns are effective at tricking many of these big brown trout and we see many of the biggest browns of the year come out to eat in late June.

July is also a great month for big hatches and great dry fly fishing at Falcon’s Ledge Lodge. Pale morning dun hatches are common in July one many of the rivers around the lodge. A parachute PMD is a great pattern to use in the mornings in July.  Evening caddis hatches are also normal most evenings in July. Elk Hair Caddis and small stimulators are great for imitating the caddis that are common on the rivers around Falcon’s Ledge.

We love the summer at Falcon’s Ledge Lodge and many fishing groups plan their trips around these great hatches in June and July.  Falcon’s Ledge Lodge works great for fly fishing groups from 2 to 30 people and summer is the perfect time of year to visit. We hope to see your group soon here in northern Utah.
