Ice fishing is hot right now and families are coming from all over Utah to enjoy family time at Falcon’s Ledge Lodge on the south slope of the Uintah Mountains. Families that are getting cabin fever have been enjoying getting out to the beautiful Falcon’s Ledge canyon and getting some rest and relaxation. During the day families go outside and enjoy time together ice fishing, sledding, hiking, and ice skating. At night when the sun goes down families eat delicious meals in the dining room, relax around the fire, sit in the hot tub, play games, and watch movies.
Today it was a beautiful, sunny day with a high of 40 degrees and it was peaceful and private on the Falcon’s Ledge property. As I sat and enjoyed the gorgeous day, I watched two red-tail hawks soar along the red cliffs of the canyon as I ice fished. I used a 1.5-inch white tube jig with an orange lead head and caught a few nice rainbows. Life is great when you are outdoors with your family and friends.
There are just a few short weeks left in the ice fishing season and the winter fun at Falcon’s Ledge. At the end of February, the ice and snow begin to melt. The first of March brings the start of spring and the ice off fishing starts. The hungry fish that have spent all winter under the ice eating blood worms and midge larvae are searching for a good meal. The fishing in March and April can be amazing as the hungry fish will actively feed all day long with the mild temperatures.
Make time to get in ice fishing, sledding, and snowmobiling before the winter has melted into spring. Come out and enjoy some time sipping hot chocolate, soaking in the hot tub, and playing in the snow at Falcon’s Ledge this February.
