The weather has been mild at Falcon’s Ledge the last week making the Utah pheasant hunting amazing and the fishing on nearby rivers good. The afternoons have been warm for February and the afternoon temperatures have been getting into the 40s most days. This nice weather has been ideal for chasing pheasants with hunting dogs and walking the local rivers in search of feeding fish. It also has us dreaming of casting to rising fish this spring on the lakes here at Falcon’s Ledge Lodge.
Pheasant hunting is spectacular right now. The mild weather and the small amount of snow on the pheasant hunting preserve makes for amazing pheasant hunting and nice weather. The pheasant hunting season will continue for 6 more weeks until the end of March. If you haven’t had the chance to pheasant hunt with us this season, give us a call and come out for a pheasant hunt in February or March before the season ends.
The fishing season is just around the corner and the warm afternoon weather has us sneaking out and getting in a little bit of fishing on the local rivers around the lodge and dreaming of the ice coming off the lakes. The Duchesne River is fishing well right now on warm afternoons and is getting some midge activity when the days get warm enough. In about 6 weeks the ice will start melting off the lakes here at Falcon’s Ledge and midges will start to get active. When the ice comes off in March midges dropped off a strike indicator is a great way to fish for cruising fish. Working a woolly bugger or leech slow and low along the bottom of the lakes is also a great way to fish in the early spring and will often produce fish.
We hope to see you soon at Falcon’s Ledge Lodge for some Utah pheasant hunting or in the spring for some great Utah spring fishing!
